In 2021, I had my left knee replaced as I was suffering from arthritis. Surgery, recovery and therapy went well with reasonable mobility regained and I was without pain. But at the end of 2022, I had a series of fainting spells and on one occasion I fell landing on my left knee. My left knee then began to have swelling and unexplained pain regularly which was very debilitating. When this happened, I could not walk for several hours at any given time. Only when the swelling went down a bit (on its own), I would be able to walk again, at least until the next flare. I consulted the orthopedic surgeon who performed my operation who felt it may be a Baker’s Cyst and wanted to operate but I did not want another surgery. I lost total trust and confidence in my knee stability, and I had become quite depressed with the whole situation. That’s when a friend recommended, I go see a therapist named Taneca. Initially, she used treatments like electrical stimulation and cold therapy. Then she performed a specialized massage therapy treatment with special bandages and that’s when the fluid in my knee really began to move and stay down. I also wore a compression stocking 24hrs a day. I am happy to say that the pain and swelling are gone, and my mobility restored. I can climb stairs again, go up and down hills, kneel down and get back up, and best of all I have regained full trust in my knee’s ability and stability! Although recovered I continue to receive regular lymphatic massages for maintenance, as it helps to consistently remove any excess fluids from my body naturally -Taneca and her magic hands gave me my life back!
